Asiansploitation Bruce Lee’s It Up at the Reel Asian Film Festival!

Asiansploitation helped kick off the 3rd Annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival with a roaring set last night along with troupes Caught In the Net, Morbio, and The Riot! STOP #1: FINISHING THE GAME – OPENING NIGHT GALA, BLOOR CINEMA, WED NOV 14, 7 PM

Which Asiansploitation member shall emerge as the heir to Bruce Lee? Find out as we take to the red carpet as part of the opening night fun and festivities for the Justin Lin film “Finishing the Game”. We’ll be warming up the crowd prior to the premiere of this great new comedy about the making of Bruce Lee’s final movie Game of Death. Who will be the heir apparent to the greatest martial artist of all time? Find out at the opening night gala! STOP #2:
BINDING BORDERS – OUT OF THE ORDINARY YOUTH SHORTS, NFB CINEMA, THU NOV 15, 1 PM

Asiansploitation member Sandy Chen appears in this short film “Binding Borders” directed by Tiffany Hsiung. Everyday we cross paths with people from all different cultures and backgrounds. Interweaving four humbling stories about people’s lives before immigrating to Canada, Hsiung looks for what unifies immigrants whether they are from Vietnam, Mexico, Philippines or Rwanda. Binding Borders recently won the Best Toronto Focus Film Award at the Cabbagetown Film Festival and is in the CBC Radio International Digital Diversity Competition.

STOP #3: ASIANSPLOITATION/ANG PAMANA – INNIS TOWN HALL, SAT NOV 17TH 10PM

First up is film-maker Yumi Otagaki’s documentary short, asiansploitation, about the troupe. Shot during the production of Asiansploitation’s TOFU TV revue, this doc takes a behind the scenes look at the making of the show and features candid interviews with the director, co-producers, and troupe members.

Next up is the Filipino horror thriller Ang Pamana – The Inheritance, starring Asiansploitation member Darrel Gamotin. Directed by Romeo Candido this chilling thriller is inspired by age-old Filipino folklore and is about the story of a family and their dark secrets.
