Back in the Fold!

2010/01/23

Y’All!

Long time, no blog!

It’s Lana here…and I’m really happy to be back in the swing of things with Asiansploitation!

Just wrapped up a run of Just East of Broadway at the Next Stage Festival. I’m elated that I got to share the stage with (among others) the one and only Darrel Gamotin! This time around, we got to play love interests. Woot! I’m sure he was super excited when I showed up to the show one day with a huge cold sore on my bottom lip. Alas, he was a trooper and insisted on going through with “real” kisses…not stage kisses. You rock, D!

The only other show I was able to see in the festival was the powerfully poignant The Making of St. Jerome, starring our very own Byron Abalos. Byron did a wonderful job portraying the lead who struggles during the events surrounding his brother’s murder. So many of us connected to, and were affected by, this tragic true story. The writing, direction and strong performances of the whole cast deserved all the accolades that they received.

Last Wednesday marked my return to rehearsal with the Asiansploitation gang, and it was fun as always! Lots more Improv (eek!), but really good to get out of my comfort zone! Feel the fear and do it anyway!!!
Here are some pics from opening night of Just East of Broadway. You’ll see some familiar faces…namely Gene Abella, Darrel Gamotin and our newest kid on the block, Andrea Lui! Special thanks to “Sploiters”, Sandy Chen, Andrew Currie Jeffy Santos and Byron Abalos (with fiancee, Andrea!) for coming out to support the show too!

Peace!!
Lana =)
