Byron Abalos

Byron Abalos is an actor, playwright, and producer from Toronto with a Theatre Acting BFA from Ryerson University. He spent the past year in San Francisco where he worked with theatre companies like Magic Theatre, Crowded Fire, Playwrights Foundation, and Boxcar Theatre. Selected Toronto acting credits include Andromache (Necessary Angel/Luminato), paper SERIES (Cahoots, Dora Nomination), Roshni (Theatre Passe Muraille), The Making of St. Jerome (eastBOUND Theatre, Dora Nomination), Banana Boys (fu-GEN), The Corner (Next Stage/J Squared), and The Romance of Magno Rubio (Carlos Bulosan Theatre). His play Remember Lolo won the NOW Magazine Audience Choice Award (SummerWorks 2005) and fu-GEN produced the world premiere of his play Brown Balls at Factory Theatre in 2011. Byron was named one of Toronto’s Top 10 Theatre Artists for 2010 by NOW Magazine. Byron is set to reprise his role as Symbol in paper SERIES in this year’s Magnetic North Festival in Calgary and is currently developing a new TYA play called Through the Bamboo with his wife, Andrea.
