Franco Nguyen is a man of many artsy hats: as a stage performer, host, writer, and filmmaker. For the past four years he has performed onstage. Early into his film career, Franco has already made waves in the local film community. During his third year of undergraduate studies, Franco’s film Broken Wood received awards for Best Fiction Film and Best Short Screenplay at York University’s annual Cinesiege Film Festival. His most recent film, Plants out of the sunlight, played at the World Wide Short Film Festival, Uxbridge Short Film Festival, and the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, where he was also featured as the lead in the festival’s commercial and print ads.
He has recently co-hosted Kollaboration 2011, as well as NIGHT it Up 2011. Watch for Franco in the short film, The Magic Charm, directed by Gemini nominee, Keith Locke.
Franco graduated from York University in 2010 with an honours degree in film production.
